The University of Oklahoma President’s Associates program connects alumni and friends of the University who share a collective passion for OU. In an ever-changing environment, their annual leadership donations support the mission of the University in promoting efforts to help students achieve their educational goals.
Since its beginning in 1979, the President’s Associates program has provided unrestricted funding that allows OU’s president to deal with critical issues and pursue initiatives that enrich OU’s academic mission. Because donors can designate half of their gift to a favorite college or program, Associates funds provide the same kind of opportunities to OU deans and program directors.
Membership is based on annual donations to the program; payments may be made in monthly payments or a lump sum. Click here to learn more about membership levels.
2019-2020 Rise Scholarship Award Recipients
Each year, President's Associates distribute R.I.S.E. Scholarships to undergraduate students at OU chosen on the basis of the R.I.S.E. standard — Reach, Inspire, Strive and Engage the university community. The purpose of this scholarship is to reward hardworking students with financial needs like Willie Chavira, Toronzo McInnis and Te'a Williams.
"Having scholarships gives me peace of mind as it allows me to focus on my education, rather than focusing on ways to pay for it...as a first-generation, independent, Hispanic-American student, I will do whatever it takes to accomplish my dream of becoming the first person in my family to earn a college degree."
— Willie Chavira
"Though I have had support from others, I am virtually on my own and I refuse to give up on my aspirations or myself. When I graduate from college this year with my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education degree, I will be a first-generation college graduate. With the compassion of others in the form of scholarships, grants and loans, I have been and will be able to make it possible."
— Toronzo McInnis
"I worked extremely hard to be here because I knew I would be the only one to make this happen. The support of scholarships is essential to my education because I cannot do it alone...with the help of scholarships, it can take a great amount of financial stress off my shoulders, allowing me to focus on others more."
— Te'a Williams
