Dr. Ehrhardt is a scholar of American literature, with a focus on women’s literature from the turn into the twentieth century to the present. She is particularly interested in the ways fiction and nonfiction writing by popular women writers express issues of national social and political significance, and the ways in which popular women writers engage issues of embodiment. She is the author of Writers of Conviction: The Personal Politics of Zona Gale, Dorothy Canfield Fisher, Rose Wilder Lane, and Josephine Herbst (2004). She is currently working on a book about dieting in American literature.
