Live in Cross Village as a First-Year Student

Located on the Norman campus at the corner of Jenkins Avenue and Fourth Street, Cross Village is a premier 1,200-bed complex featuring a range of amenities, including a fitness facility and a blackbox theater. The OU Housing option consists of four, four-story buildings that feature a mix of residential units, community spaces and commercial spaces.

The Cross Village complex features units with two and four bedrooms with full-size beds, large windows and desks. Each unit has a full-sized refrigerator, microwave and kitchenette. Bathrooms have tile floors and showers with a vanity outside of the bathroom. Living at Cross Village means living at the heart of campus, which puts you within walking distance of classes, campus restaurants, athletic events and more. Explore photos from where you could soon be calling your home away from home.

Incoming first-year students will be able to complete a freshman Cross Village contract. Cross Village inventory is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If you don’t receive a Cross Village housing assignment, you will be assigned based on the preferences you selected on your freshman Residence Halls housing contract or your Residential Colleges housing contract (if applicable). Spring 2022 housing assignments will be released in late December or early January to your OU email account.

Couch and Walker Centers

In Couch and Walker Center, residents have a suite-style room. In this style of room, students share a semi-private bathroom with their roommate and suitemates. Residents also share the responsibility of cleaning their own bathroom.

All rooms in Couch and Walker Center come equipped with the following furniture: two twin beds, two dressers, two desks and desk chairs, two wardrobes, two night stands and blinds on the window. All furniture in Couch and Walker Center is completely moveable.

Super Suites

The main difference between a super suite and a regular Tower suite is how the rooms are divided. Our super suites hold up to four students per suite and all four students share one bathroom. In a super suite, a wall with an open doorway divides the two bedrooms, and the bathroom can only be accessed through one of the rooms. Our Tower suites have a solid wall dividing the two rooms, and the bathroom can be accessed through each room. By requesting a super suite, you can request up to three roommates; however, in a regular Tower suite you can only request your roommate, and your suitemates will be automatically selected for you.

You must have two mutual roommates to be considered for assignment in a super suite. Super suites are assigned on a first come, first served basis depending on your contract completion date. Super suites are limited and not guaranteed. Super suites are only located in Couch and Walker Centers.

David L. Boren Hall

In David L. Boren Hall, residents have a community-style bathroom. This bathroom is at the end of the hallway and is shared by all the residents on the floor – approximately 10-16 students. The bathroom is cleaned daily by OU Housekeeping.

All rooms in David L. Boren Hall come equipped with two twin beds, two desks and desk chairs, two closets, one bureau and built-in bookshelves.

Headington Hall

Headington Hall is located on the corner of Lindsey and Jenkins. It houses 380 students, both student-athletes and non-athlete students.

Headington Hall offers four styles of units/rooms.

  • 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom Single Occupancy
  • 4 Bedroom/2 Bathroom Single Occupancy
  • 2 Bedroom/1 Bathroom Single Occupancy
  • 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom Double Occupancy


Each unit is furnished with full size beds, desks, desk chairs, wardrobes, bureaus, sectional couches, tv stands, microwaves, apartment size fridges, bar stools and cable TV. Each person will have either their own bathroom or share a bathroom with one person, depending on which type of unit you live in.

Headington Hall has its own dining hall inside the building. Dining service in Headington Hall will be different than the meal plans associated with the other housing areas.

If you are interested in living in Headington Hall, fill out a University Housing and Food Services contract located on this site. Select Headington Hall as your first choice. Housing assignments will be assigned on a first come, first served basis after special assignments have been made. First come basis will be determined by completion date of your Housing Contract and Enrollment Commitment date. Due to the size of Headington Hall, availability is very limited.

Frequently Asked Questions

First-year students interested in living in Cross Village must have a complete Residence Halls 2021-2022 contract to access the Cross Village 2021-2022 contract during their designated timeframe (so don’t cancel your Residence Halls contract). Students wishing to live in Cross Village must complete a Cross Village 2021-2022 contract and are encouraged to do so at their earliest convenience for the best shot at getting in.

Students assigned to Cross Village will have their Residential Colleges housing contract (if applicable) and Residence Halls housing contract canceled on their behalf at a later date.

All assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. The earlier your contract completion date, the better your chance at being assigned to Cross Village and being assigned to the room preference of your choice.

You will be asked to rank room type preferences on your contract. You will be assigned to Cross Village based on your complete date regardless if you cannot be assigned to your first preference. Completing a Cross Village 2021-2022 contract does not guarantee assignment to Cross Village.

By completing a Cross Village housing contract, you are overriding the preferences selected on your Residential Colleges housing contract (if applicable) or your Residence Halls housing contract, making Cross Village your first overall preference.

Both room types available in Cross Village offer students their own room. Students will have the opportunity to rank room types on the Cross Village 2021-2022 contract according to their preference. All assignments are made in order of contract completion date and based on availability; no specific room type is guaranteed.

Housing assignments will go out to all incoming first-year students in late June or early July. Your housing assignment and other housing details will be emailed to your OU email account.

By completing a Cross Village housing contract, you are overriding the preferences selected on your Residential Colleges housing contract (if applicable) or your Residence Halls housing contract, making Cross Village your first overall preference.

If you are not assigned to Cross Village, Housing and Residence Life will assign you according to the other housing contract(s) you have completed.

If you have a complete not canceled Residential Colleges 2021-2022 housing contract, you will next be considered for assignment to the Residential Colleges. If you are unable to be assigned to the Residential Colleges, you will be assigned utilizing the selections you made on your Residence Halls 2021-2022 housing contract.

If you do not have a complete not canceled Residential Colleges 2021-2022 housing contract, you will be assigned utilizing the selections you made on your Residence Halls 2021-2022 housing contract.

All assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. The earlier your contract completion date, the better your chance at being assigned to the floor plan or community preference of your choice.

If you have requested a roommate on your previously completed OU Housing contract, your roommate request will not carry over to your Cross Village contract. Talk to your roommate now to ensure you both complete the Cross Village contract and mutually request each other again on the Cross Village contract. Roommates also are required to rank Cross Village room types in the same order.

If you are assigned to Cross Village and your requested roommate does not complete their Cross Village contract, you will be assigned to Cross Village without your selected roommate.

You do not have to select a roommate to complete the Cross Village contract. Based on room type, a roommate will automatically be assigned.

Incoming first-year students are not able to request suitemates and will only be assigned one mutual preferred roommate. 

If you don’t have a roommate in mind, no worries! You will have the opportunity to browse roommates when completing your Cross Village 2021-2022 contract. In the event you do not select a roommate and you are assigned to a room type with more than one person, Housing and Residence Life will assign you a roommate based on your answers to your profile questions.

If your roommate cancels their contract prior to the Cross Village contract deadline (May 31)you can log into the Housing portal to request a new roommate (remember roommate requests must be mutual in order to be taken into consideration). In the event you do not select a roommate, Housing and Residence Life will assign you a roommate based on your answers to your profile questions.

If your roommate does not have the opportunity to complete a Cross Village 2021-2022 contract by May 31, your roommate will not be eligible to live in Cross Village. If you have completed a Cross Village 2021-2022 contract, you will remain eligible to live in Cross Village without your roommate. If you would rather pursue living with your roommate in the Residence Halls or Residential Colleges, you must email housinginfo@ou.edu to request to cancel your Cross Village contract by May 31. Your roommate will need to complete a Residence Halls 2021-2022 contract once they are admitted to the University. You will want to request each other as roommates on that contract (remember roommate requests must be mutual in order to be taken into consideration).

Roommate requests submitted after May 31 will be taken into consideration, but are not guaranteed.

Cross Village offers two unique floor plans and all incoming first-year students are required to have a meal plan.

You will not be able to access the freshman Cross Village contract if you have not already completed the Residence Halls contract. Cross Village housing assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are not assigned to Cross Village, Housing and Residence Life will assign you according to the other housing contract(s) you have completed.

As a student living in Cross Village, you can use your meal plan at Residential Colleges' Dining Halls and Couch Restaurants. You also will have access to meal exchanges. Meal exchanges are currently available during business hours at campus dining locations south of Lindsey Street, and after 2 p.m. at locations north of Lindsey Street. Crossroads (in the Union) accepts meal exchanges any time during business hours.

The university has not yet determined how the office, commercial and other community spaces in Cross Village will be used at this time. However, the university is planning on transitioning some student services to Cross Village for easier accessibility. The university will provide more information as it becomes available.

If you no longer wish to live in Cross Village, you must email housinginfo@ou.edu to request to cancel your Cross Village contract by May 31. You will be considered for an assignment in Cross Village as long as you have a complete, not canceled Cross Village housing contract.

First-year students are allowed to have one mutual preferred roommate; in the event an incoming first-year student and upperclassman would like to be mutual preferred roommates, both students will need to complete the Cross Village 2021-2022 housing contract and email housinginfo@ou.edu regarding their request. Both students should send an email from their OU email account and indicate their roommate request, including the 9-digit Sooner ID and full name of the student they are requesting.
