2025 - 2026 Theme Year "DIRT"

Red dirt road with the text " Theme Year, Dirt, 2025-2026" and OU Logo with text "Arts and Humanitites Forum, The Univeristy of Oklahoma" next to it.

Dirt is many things: the soil that nourishes our food, the gossip that both tears and bonds, and our shared cultural shorthand for the “out of bounds.” In Oklahoma, the Red Dirt is a marker of belonging that binds us together across other social divides... or at least that’s what podcasts titles, song lyrics, and local product marketing campaigns suggest.

In 2025-26, the Forum will host with public-facing events, lectures, and a public fellows program for faculty that will help us to deeply consider the meaning of “dirt.”
