OU Selected as a Top Green College

The University of Oklahoma was selected as a top university for environmental sustainability by The Princeton Review. The 2019 edition of The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges included the OU Norman campus on its list of 413 schools from around the world.

The list includes mostly schools from the United States, 16 in Canada and one in Egypt. Colleges on the list were chosen for their sustainability score (on a scale of 60 to 99); OU scored a 94. The scores represent each college’s work in environmental sustainability and responsibility, including availability of transportation alternatives and school budgets spent on local or organic foods.

Studies show that a school’s environmental sustainability efforts play an increasingly large deciding factor for potential college applicants. Among the 11,900 teens and parents who were surveyed by The Princeton Review, 64% said having information about a college’s commitment to environmental sustainability would influence their decision to apply to or attend that school.
