OU Community Helps Make Season Bright

With the holidays approaching, the University of Oklahoma community is stepping up to help brighten the season for patients at OU Children’s Hospital. Each year during the holiday season, OU students, faculty and staff work with Children’s Hospital Volunteers to provide gifts, toys and other small comforts.

“The Adopt-a-Child drive is in its 16th year, and last year we saw over 30 individuals, student groups, offices and departments coming together to collect over 150 items for patients at the OU Children’s Hospital,” said organizer Vicky Bumgarner. “We’d love to increase both participation and items donated.”

Here’s how members of the OU community can help:

Step 1. Sign up for as many of the wish list items you and/or your group would like to purchase.

Step 2. Purchase the item(s) and return them unwrapped by noon on Friday. Dec. 6 to Leadership & Volunteerism.

Organizers ask that donors only donate new toys and items in an effort to keep all patients safe. They also ask donors to consider donating all-plastic toys that can be easily cleaned as opposed to stuffed animals.
