New OU Center to Create Advantage in Emerging Field of Quantum Technology

The University of Oklahoma is on the leading edge of quantum advancement. Quantum technology is an emerging field that will transform information processing and provide immense economic and national security advantages and transformative life-saving advances in areas such as medical imaging.

The OU Center for Quantum Research and Technology will be dedicated during a public ceremony scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Lin Hall. The Center will put OU and Oklahoma on track to become a world leader in quantum technology by excelling in basic research and pursuing applications enabled by its discoveries.

“The Center for Quantum Research and Technology will be an inspiring new home for discovery dedicated to making the University of Oklahoma a global leader in this rapidly advancing field. The world is now witnessing the second quantum revolution and the Center will secure OU’s place at its leading edge. This new center will enable us to develop future quantum technology and new applications, and to train students and researchers to make unprecedented advances that will positively impact society. The College of Arts and Sciences community is grateful to all who’ve helped make this moment possible, most notably the Avenir Foundation, whose generosity and dedication have been truly transformational,” said Dean David Wrobel, College of Arts and Sciences.

CQRT will enable OU to pursue large federal and private sector grants and fulfill the vision of donors of Lin Hall and the Homer L. Dodge Physics Complex. For more information on CQRT, visit http://www.ou.edu/cqrt.
