and Landscaping

Services In-House

The University of Oklahoma determined to retain current in-house professional custodial and landscaping services and personnel. The choice to keep both operations internal comes after several months of review.

Eric Conrad, vice president of operations and chief operating officer, worked in partnership with custodial and landscaping management and purchasing to assess current staffing levels, costs, and quality of work. Findings from that assessment were presented to Interim President Joseph Harroz Jr. and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Ken Rowe, along with the recommendation to keep existing custodial and landscaping staff. The recommendation was met with full endorsement.

In a letter to Norman campus custodial and landscaping teams in which he expressed gratitude for their work, Conrad said, “We are exceedingly proud that OU is able to provide outstanding service at one of the lowest cost models in the industry. While we will always strive to improve and set new performance goals, we can approach our work knowing we are cost-effective.”
