The University of Oklahoma will celebrate fandoms of all kinds during its annual CollegeCon, set for 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, in Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave.
Dozens of events and panels will be presented on four floors of the Union. CollegeCon director Lauren Howard, a psychology and criminology senior, said she expects around 700 attendees and about 40 vendors for the day’s events.
“It’s one of the largest OU events catering to a geeky audience,” Howard said. “There’s also an educational focus with panel discussions featuring local artists, costumers and educators.”
Attendees can register free to experience a wide array of adventures at the show, including escape rooms with “Game of Thrones” and “Haunting of Hill House” themes. Dungeons & Dragons adventure modules will be set up for play in a gaming room. The Oklahoma Tabletop Gaming Club and local role-playing game clubs will be on hand, and a Board Game Lounge will be set up for all-day gameplay.
For those who are into costuming, a cosplay contest will take place with a grand prize of $25.
The convention is sponsored by the Union Programming Board.
