OU Competes in Voter Registration Drive

The University of Oklahoma is in a heated battle against several other Oklahoma colleges when it comes to voter registration. Students, faculty and staff can help OU win by getting the largest percentage of students, both in-state and out-of-state, to sign up to vote.

Now through Oct. 11, OU is competing against Oklahoma State University, the University of Central Oklahoma, Tulsa Community College and Oklahoma City Community College in a campus-wide voter registration drive.

OU Votes, a student-led effort, is training volunteers from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, in Monnet Hall Room 101. These volunteers will work at voter registration events across campus.

OU regularly leads the state in voter registration efforts and in 2018 won the overall competition after registering 685 students.

OU Votes is a coordinated effort between various student organizations, colleges and departments and is sponsored by the Carl Albert Congressional Research and Studies Center. The drive is part of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and Oklahoma Campus Compact’s Voter Registration Competition.
