OU Launches Marketing and Communications Division

The Offices of Public Affairs and Web Communications have merged and now operate as the Division of Marketing and Communications. The division provides strategic marketing and communications support for University-wide programs, departments and colleges, working collaboratively to create and implement strategies to fulfill the University’s mission.

Departments within the newly formed Division include University Events, Digital Marketing, Strategic Communications, Media Relations, and University Marketing. The OU-Tulsa Marketing and Communications team is also part of the University Marketing and Communications division. Open Records now resides within the Media Relations department. Graduation services, commencement and convocations fall under University Events.

In concert with the renaming, Marketing and Communications will soon introduce Source, an online project, services and production ordering system to improve service and coordination with Marketing and Communications. Source provides accessible digital assets such as logos and photography and printing requests, as well as forms for requesting individualized support for planning and creative services by programs, departments and colleges.

The Division of Marketing and Communications reports to Vice President of Marketing and Communications Lauren Brookey. Its mission is to strategically advance the goals of the University by creatively communicating OU’s teaching and research excellence.

“Our goal is to provide a central source for creative services, technical support and strategic planning so that not only do we achieve the goals of individual areas, but we also work together to reinforce strategic initiatives of the University and reinforce our brand promise,” said Brookey.

The Division will also lead planning for large-scale University communications initiatives and elevate the OU brand in a more comprehensive way. Future meetings are planned with internal communications professionals to introduce Source, discuss brand guides and conduct research and brand initiatives.
