OU-Tulsa Goes Platinum

OU-Tulsa Goes Platinum

OU-Tulsa is one of only two organizations in the Tulsa area to achieve the highest sustainability rating in the Sustainable Tulsa Scor3card program. The Tulsa campus has moved up to platinum status with the Scor3card program, an interactive tool that allows groups to assess and track sustainability efforts.

The Scor3card program allows organizations to assess communications and promotions, community stewardship, energy, healthy work environment, materials management, transportation and water.

Ongoing lunch-and-learn series paired with continued sustainability improvements allow OU-Tulsa to lessen their carbon footprint.

Sustainability improvements at OU-Tulsa include establishing a first-ever campus-wide recycling program, a “Hit the Switch” campaign to encourage people to turn off their lights every time they’re out of their office (even for a few minutes), removing Styrofoam from the on-campus cafeteria and encouraging a Styrofoam-free culture, and planting milkweed on campus to feed monarch butterflies.

This is the third year OU-Tulsa has been a part of the program, thanks to the efforts of the 30-person OU-Tulsa “Green Team” and Sustainability coordinator Shelly Fowler.
