Program Director Named for Occupational Therapy Program

Mary Isaacson has been selected to serve as program director for the Occupational Therapy Program in the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Department of Rehabilitation Sciences on the Tulsa and the Oklahoma City campuses.

Isaacson has served in the Department for 17 years in several capacities, including academic fieldwork coordinator, Tulsa site coordinator and interim program director. She holds a doctorate of education, is a licensed and registered occupational therapist, is an assistive Technology Professional, and is a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association.

In her new role, Isaacson will work with the administration to attract talented students and faculty. She will lead faculty as they make plans to transition to a doctorate-level program and hire new faculty to accommodate anticipated program growth.

“I am honored and excited to lead the great occupational therapy professionals who are teaching our next generation of occupational therapists. Our program graduates truly make a difference in the lives of their patients and I’m looking forward to growing our program both in Tulsa and at the Health Sciences Center,” said Isaacson.

Isaacson is the founder of the Professor Paws Program at OU-Tulsa, through which Isaacson and Niko, a full-time facility service dog, work to increase knowledge and awareness about service animals and their numerous benefits.
