Norman Campus Police Chief Liz Woollen to Retire

Elizabeth Woollen, chief of police for the University of Oklahoma Police Department on the Norman campus, is retiring after serving 37 years in law enforcement. Her final day will be Feb. 3.

Woollen joined OUPD as chief of police in 2003. Prior to overseeing the police department and public safety at Oklahoma’s flagship institution, her dedicated law enforcement career included working patrol, investigations, SWAT and special operations during her 21 years with the Tulsa Police Department.

She earned her master’s degree from OU and her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.

Kent Ray, deputy chief for OUPD Norman, will serve as interim chief while a national search is conducted to hire Woollen’s replacement.
