As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop for our state and nation, the University of Oklahoma is doing its part to help slow the spread of the virus. To protect the university community, OU is extending online coursework through the summer for Norman campus-based programs.

Taking summer courses is a great way to use the summer months to get ahead, stay on track or catch up in one’s coursework. Over 600 courses are offered in the upcoming OU Summer Session, both online and by video conference. Online summer courses allow students to earn quick credit hours while providing ample time for enjoying summer downtime.

Devin Brown, a sophomore at OU on the Norman campus, said, “Although I won’t be able to take my summer courses in person, I’m grateful that I will still be able to take my courses online. I took online summer classes last year, and OU made it as smooth as possible.”

OU Summer Session courses begin immediately following the Spring semester and offer three different blocks to choose from that are either four weeks or eight weeks long throughout the summer.

Full-time undergraduate students who are charged the flat-rate tuition and take fewer than 15 hours per semester may be able to bank hours to use in the summer. The hours a student has banked will automatically be used to reduce summer charges for tuition and mandatory hourly fees. Schedule a meeting with your academic adviser to discuss summer courses and possible banked hours.
