Dr. Chan Hellman, director of the Hope Research Center at OU-Tulsa and professor in the Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work, will present at the Activating Hope Summit, an international conference featuring experts on hope from around the world.

Hellman’s work on the science of hope as a psychological strength in the ability to cope with traumatic experiences summarizes over a decade of research. During his presentation on Nov. 6, he will reveal how hope can lead to adaptive outcomes, buffer the effects of adversity, and can be nurtured and restored.

The Activating Hope Summit will feature a keynote from Jane Goodall, the world-famous environmental conservationist, and follows the release of her book, The Book of Hope. After almost 60 years of groundbreaking environmental conservation work, Goodall is now using her formidable and inspiring leadership to help spark hope around the globe. Her new book includes reference to Hellman’s research and OU-Tulsa’s Hope Research Center.

Led by a broad roster of legendary visionaries, the Activating Hope Summit sets out to infuse hope in trying times, giving participants the vision and tools to sustain a global future together. The virtual summit is free and open to anyone would like to attend.
