What You Need to Know About Crimson Commitment

Last week the University of Oklahoma launched our new newest financial aid program, Crimson Commitment. Current OU students who were receiving Sooner Promise will automatically be a part of Crimson Commitment starting in fall 2019 as long as they meet the renewal requirements.

One of the university's top priorities has been to focus on OU’s affordability and increasing students’ ability to access our incredible university. To make OU more affordable, the university has already increased nearly all academic merit-based freshman scholarships for the incoming class of 2019 and did not increase tuition for the 2018-19 school year. Crimson Commitment is the latest step in making a world-class education attainable at the University of Oklahoma.

Here are a few things to know about OU’s newest financial aid program, Crimson Commitment

1. Crimson Commitment will cover the tuition and average fees* for both incoming and current resident students who are recipients of Oklahoma’s Promise, beginning in fall 2019. A student who is enrolled in OU’s Crimson Commitment will not have to pay tuition and, combining outside and OU resources, up to $8,000 in student fees for four years.

2. The program is an upgrade and a replacement to the previous Sooner Promise program. Current OU students who were receiving Sooner Promise will automatically be a part of Crimson Commitment starting in fall 2019 as long as they meet the renewal requirements.

3. Along with the financial support, Crimson Commitment will continue to offer academic and personal support, which comes in the form of peer mentoring, graduation coaching and ongoing Student Life programming focusing on the transition to college, success on campus and the college-career pathway.

Transfer students who qualify for Oklahoma’s Promise will continue to have their tuition covered, but they are not eligible for Crimson Commitment since the program is designed for direct from high school students.
