Study Abroad Application

Deadline Extended

The deadline for applying to one of the many study abroad programs OU offers around the world has been extended to March 10. Students participating in study abroad programs call it a “life-changing experience,” and OU is committed to making it accessible to all students interested.

Classes are available for students from HSC, Tulsa and Norman campuses. Whether taught by OU faculty or taken at a partner university, credits earned may help students toward graduation, or give them a new perspective on their chosen major. Courses may last anywhere from one to four weeks, from an entire semester to an academic year. Students pay OU tuition and fees and may apply for financial aid, such as the Presidential International Travel Fellowship, which are provided on a needs-based, competitive basis to eligible students.

For a deeper understanding of a country or region, the Journey programs in China, Latin America (Mexico and Brazil) and South Africa last four weeks and are taught by OU professors. Trips to the Great Wall in China, Sugarloaf Mountain, the Great Pyramid of Cholula, Pompeii, Table Mountain, Robben Island and the Penguin Colony make for a summer to remember.

The study centers in Italy and Mexico also have extended their deadline for fall courses. Students from Norman, the College of Allied Health and the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing can enjooy spending time at the OU Center in Arezzo. The OU Center in Puebla has many great General Education courses available this fall, as well as a special track for Pre-Health students, including medical rotations. For more information on the study centers, visit the Education Abroad Office.

Remember to take advantage of the new March 10 deadline. Many colleges offer education abroad courses, including Allied Health, Architecture, Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering, Fine Arts, Journalism, Education, Earth and Energy, and Nursing. To find the best fit for you or your OU student, visit oklahoma.studioabroad.com for a searchable database of courses available.
