The OU Online M.A. in Nutritional Sciences is a 34-credit program designed to provide advanced education, training, and research to students desiring a mastery in one of the specialty areas of dietetics, such as pediatrics, geriatrics, sport, medical nutrition therapy, diabetes, cancer, and weight management.
This program is not a pathway to becoming a Registered Dietitian; however, students transitioning into the field will earn a master's degree, which the Commission on Dietetic Registration will require beginning in 2024 to sit for the RDN exam.

Our curriculum has built-in coursework that prepares students for the CDR certification exams. Some certification possibilities include the Certified Diabetes Educator, Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, Gerontological Nutrition, Pediatric Nutrition, Oncology Nutrition, and the Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management.
The job market for dietitians and nutritionists is expected to expand by 15% by 2026, creating nearly 10,000 new positions. This program allows RDs and RDNs to remain competitive by obtaining a master’s degree. Tuition and fees for the program are $21,998 ($647 per credit hour). Books and additional materials are not included.
Once accepted into the program, students must submit a $350 nonrefundable deposit within two weeks. Deposits are applied toward tuition expenses and secure a student’s place in the upcoming class.

The online M.A. in Nutritional Sciences is a lock-step curriculum with eight-week or 16-week-long courses. Students will take up to two courses at a time.
