Sooner Discovery Cost

Students who participate in Sooner Discovery will receive five college credit hours, mentorship opportunities, and the ultimate college experience through one of the nation’s premiere institutions.

There are different costs based on residency and grade level of the Sooner Discovery participant. Costs for Sooner Discovery include tuition and fees for 5 college credit hours and a small program fee for online and virtual program assistance and resources. 

It is important to note that Concurrent Enrollment students will not be charged an application fee. The cost of fees listed below do not include course specific fees (e.g. chemistry fee). When enrolling, students can see these fees in the course catalog. These fees typically range from $50 - $100 per course. Online fees will not be charged to Concurrent Enrollment students and Concurrent Enrollment students are not eligible for financial aid.

There may also be course related material costs such as books, course packets and other supplies.

An Oklahoma high school senior is defined as a student who has completed their junior year but has not yet graduated from high school. Oklahoma high school seniors will receive a tuition waiver for up to 6 credit hours. This waiver is provided by the state for up to six credit hours per semester or summer session.

Oklahoma seniors will still have to pay fees. OU offers a special, discounted fee rate for all concurrent enrollment students of $80 per credit hour. Since most OU courses taken through CE will be 3 credit hours, the fee total for a class is $240.

An Oklahoma high school junior is defined as a student who has completed their sophomore year, but has not yet graduated high school. Oklahoma juniors will not receive a tuition waiver from the state, but will receive OU's special, discounted fee rate of $80 per credit hour.

A non-resident high school junior or senior is defined as a student who attends high school out of the state of Oklahoma and has completed either their sophomore or junior year, but has not yet graduated high school. Non-resident students do not receive a tuition waiver from the state, but do receive OU's special, discounted fee rate of $80 per credit hour.

Admitted students have the opportunity to receive two scholarships to help alleviate costs of attending Sooner Discovery.

The Financial Assistance Scholarship is up to $750 in value. 

Each Oklahoma high school counselor additionally has the power to select one student from their high school to receive a $500 scholarship for attendance. 

Both scholarships are now open for Sooner Discovery 2024 and will close on May 1, 2024. Students may receive both scholarships, and both are contingent upon the student attending the program.
