Live on campus. Park on campus.
Living on campus is the place to be, and speaking of “place,” the University of Oklahoma has a place just for your car. Students who live in university housing are eligible to park near the residence halls and Residential Colleges with a valid parking permit.
Student parking permits are available for $274 and are valid from August until June for both the fall and spring semesters. Those eligible for housing parking permits fall into three categories: Housing, Priority Housing and Headington Hall Housing.
Housing parking permit
Most freshmen will be in this category, as the qualifications for this permit type are that you must live in the university resident halls. Housing permits are only for Boren, Adams, Couch and Walker Tower.
Priority housing parking permit
The criteria for a priority housing permit is living in the university residence halls and having lived there the previous two semesters. Students eligible for priority housing parking permits must obtain a voucher from Housing and Food Services.
Residential College parking
Priority housing permits also are available to all students, including Freshman, living in the new Residential Colleges.
Headington Hall parking permit
Headington Hall residents should purchase a Headington Hall housing permit.
Cross Center Apartments
Cross Community residents are able to park in the Timberdell Garage. If residents wish to park on campus, they should purchase a commuter permit.
Where can I park?
All three categories of housing parking permit-holders are eligible to park in any lot designated for their respective housing permits in addition to the many multipurpose lots on campus.
Priority housing parking permit-holders may park in spaces designated for either housing or priority housing; however, housing permit-holders may not park in priority housing spots.
Headington Hall housing permit users may park in Headington Hall housing lots but not in any other housing spaces.
Housing, priority housing and Headington Hall housing permit-holders also may park in lots designated for faculty/staff (except 24-hour reserved lots) as follows:
• Weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. in most gated lots.
• All day Saturday and Sunday unless posted otherwise.
**Inoperable or raised gates do not negate the permit restrictions in designated faculty/staff areas during the hours of enforcement.
Where can I NOT park?
Student parking permits are not valid in the following areas:
• North (Parrington) Oval before 5 p.m.
• Service vehicle areas south of Lindsey Street.
• Service vehicle areas north of Lindsey Street before 5 p.m.
• Any "No Parking" area.
• Visitor parking before 5 p.m.
Permits are required to park on the OU Norman campus from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students without permits may pay meters or pay stations to park.
The responsibility for finding a legal parking space rests with the vehicle operator. Lack of space in a particular lot is not a valid excuse for violating parking regulations, and will not be considered as a valid basis for appeal. The vehicle operator must park only in those spaces or areas allocated and designated for the type of permit displayed on the vehicle.
Students who have purchased permits may be due a credit on the unused portion if the permit is returned prior to its expiration date. Fees are pro-rated weekly.
All parking permit restrictions are applicable during exam weeks, enrollment periods and unscheduled class cancellations.
