Wayne Thomas joined the University of Oklahoma in 2000. His research interests include accounting information in capital markets, techniques used by managers to manipulate earnings, the importance of financial disclosures, and financial statement analysis. He has published articles in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting & Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, and several other journals. He has served as an editor for The Accounting Review and an associate editor for the Journal of International Accounting Research.

Professor Thomas teaches intermediate accounting and financial accounting to both undergraduate and graduate students. He authors the following books:

  • Financial Accounting 6e with David Spiceland and Don Herrmann (McGraw-Hill).
  • Intermediate Accounting 11e with David Spiceland, Mark Nelson, and Jen Winchel (McGraw-Hill)
  • Financial Accounting for Managers 1e with Michael Drake, Jake Thornock, and David Spiceland (McGraw-Hill).

He enjoys spending time with his wife Julee and their four kids. His hobbies include basketball, tennis, golf, biking, the outdoors, crossword puzzles, and family board games.
