Ryan Spalding

Combining his background in aerospace engineering and sport management, Ryan Spalding’s research and teaching focuses on the emerging area of sport analytics and its impact on the business of sport. Among other publications, he recently co-authored a new chapter on sport analytics in the leading sport business textbook Contemporary Sport Management. Other areas of interest for his research and teaching include sport economics, sport finance, and statistics. Prior to joining OU, Spalding served as an assistant professor of sport management at Merrimack College. He also worked as a software engineer at Lockheed Martin before earning his doctoral degree in management from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2014.
