NORMAN – Practitioners, researchers and students are invited to a Crowdfunding Conference, hosted by the Michael F. Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma, Sept. 26-27. Presentations will include experienced entrepreneurs and platform managers discussing crowdfunding as a means of venture capitalization. The conference also will explore research trends and opportunities in the crowdfunding space.
Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people (the crowd), typically via the Internet, and is quickly becoming an important alternative for funding entrepreneurial endeavors. Capital raised through crowdfunding has increased from approximately $800 million in 2010 to more than $5 billion in 2013.
