Respected Higher Ed Leader to Oversee OU's Price College Office of Diversity and Inclusion
NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma Michael F. Price College of Business recently appointed Gary Jones as Director of Diversity and Inclusion.
Jones has worked in higher education for more than a decade and is responsible for ensuring Price College remains a welcoming place for all students, faculty, staff and alumni through a variety of strategic initiatives.
“Gary Jones is a skilled and respected higher-education leader, who will be an incredible asset to our students, faculty, staff, alumni and corporate partners in elevating their experience at OU and beyond,” said Price College of Business Dean Corey Phelps. “In this role, Gary will ensure our students have the cultural competence desired by employers.”
Jones most recently served as assistant dean of students and director for institutional diversity at Oklahoma Christian University, where he pioneered on-campus diversity programming, introducing special events such as “History Speaks.” He is also credited with creating Oklahoma Christian’s annual Civil Rights Movement Spring Break Tour for its students.
Jones is a native of Benton Harbor, Michigan. He received his MBA with a focus in organizational leadership and undergraduate degree from Oklahoma Christian. He is a member of the Oklahoma City Black Chamber of Commerce and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
