Karen Hennes

Message from Karen Hennes, Director

Another academic year has come to a close, and we celebrate the achievements of our students and faculty and wish all of our new graduates well as they prepare to start their careers. Spring 2022 saw a continued move back towards pre-pandemic operations, and our faculty has been working hard to help students re-engage and adapt after the disruptions of the past few years. We will continue to work with our stakeholders to adjust our programs in light of ongoing changes in both the profession and the world of higher education while exploring how the Steed School will fit into and support the new strategic plans of both OU and Price College.

The demand for our graduates remains incredibly strong, and our alumni have been doing amazing things. Our newsletter below highlights recent successes of students, faculty and alumni.

I look forward to more opportunities to come together in person in the upcoming year. Have a wonderful summer!

Karen Hennes

Director, Steed School of Accounting
Associate Professor and W. K. Newton Chair of Accounting

At Price College, finance majors are required to take Intermediate Accounting I and II as well as Financial and Managerial Accounting. "I always inform my finance students that they will be well-served by taking as much accounting as they possibly can. The CFA Research Challenge is the perfect example of this. Simply stated, there is no way to value a company without understanding its accounting," Turkiela said.
