Class Notes April 10 - June 13, 2019

1980s

Steve Dolman (BBA, Finance, 1985) and family were recognized during a reception in May for their ongoing support of Price College’s study abroad program for students.

Kea Riggs (BBA, Accounting, 1987) was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as Judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.

In May, Randall Stephenson (Master of Accountancy, 1986) addressed graduates at St. Louis University’s commencement.

Lloyd Stone (MBA, 1987) joined CrossFirst Bank as Senior Credit Risk Officer this spring.

1990s

Crestline Investors, Inc. hired Steven List (BBA, Accounting, 1990) as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager of Crestline’s Recovery Funds.

2000s

J.S. Bull (BBA, Marketing, 2001) was hired by SKU Ninja + WhyteSpyder as co-owner and Chief Operating Officer.

In April, Cytovance® Biologics promoted Matt Hamilton (BBA, Accounting, 2001) to Vice President, Finance.

Andrew Iven (BBA, Finance, 2007) was promoted to Senior Vice President, Senior Group Product Manager at BOK Financial (Bank of Oklahoma).

Apex Dental Partners, co-founded by David Lohmann (BBA, Energy Management, 2007), was listed as an Emerging Dental Group To Watch In 2019 by GroupDentistryNow.com.

Claudia San Pedro (MBA, 2001) received a Regents’ Alumni Award from the University of Oklahoma in May.

In April, Andy Sherrer (MBA, 2002) was named president of Republic Bank in Norman, Okla.

2010s

Michael Benko (BBA, Entrepreneurship & Venture Management, 2012) co-formed Student Success Agency, which connects academic mentors to teens who need college counseling.

USA Hockey hired Brandon Dennis (BBA, Management, 2015) as Business Development Manager in May.

Quiana Downie (MBA, 2014) was featured in a blog about Deloitte’s Military Spouse Initiative.

Lauren Long (BBA, Finance/Energy Management, 2017) was interviewed by Barron’s for their article, Women Make Great Financial Advisors. So Why Aren’t There More?

BKD CPAs & Advisors has promoted Casey Morgan (BBA, Accounting; Master of Accountancy, 2011, 2011) to Senior Manager.

Karthika Pillai (MBA/MS in MIT, 2019) was interviewed by The Oklahoman for their article, Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon: Why I run.

Bo Shelby (BS, Industrial Engineering; MBA, 2019, 2019) ran in the 2019 Boston Marathon with a time of 3:05:58. Running in the Boston Marathon had been a lifelong goal, and this was his first time to cross its finish line.

Brian Simmons (MBA, Energy Executive, 2017) was named as the new Chief Executive Officer of Templar Energy.

GoldFire Studios, founded by James Simpson (BBA, Entrepreneurship & Venture Management, 2011), launched a mobile version of its PC/Mac game Exocraft in June.

Jack Sparks (BBA, Finance/Entrepreneurship, 2019) won a national award from the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for his leadership role in Soonerthon.

In Memoriam

Pat Bowlen (BBA, Management; BL, 1966, 1968), influential owner of the Denver Broncos, has passed away at the age of 75. Before his success in the NFL, he practiced law, ran a drilling company, then expanded into real estate and construction.

Royce Hammons (BBA, Finance, 1969), has passed away at the age of 73. Royce was a lifelong banker who held numerous leadership positions including Republic National Bank in Dallas, First National Bank Dallas Holding Company, Fidelity Bank (Bank of Oklahoma) and UMB Oklahoma. Royce and his wife, Kirk, are members of the Adams Society, a room in Price Hall is named in Royce’s honor, and he was a senior advisor on the dean’s Board of Advisors.

Lamar Wallace (BS, Business Management, 1936), potentially the oldest living Eagle Scout yet, has passed away at the age of 107. He became an Eagle Scout at 15, earned his BS from OU, then worked for the Tulsa Tribune. He was a World War II veteran turned real estate broker before retiring in 1979. Thanks to a generous estate gift, an endowed scholarship has been created in Lamar’s memory.
