Remembering Pete Adamson, III

Remembering Pete Adamson, III

In January, the Price College family said farewell to our friend, alumnus and fellow Adams Society member, Peter “Pete” Adamson, III. We lost Pete on January 17 at the age of 77, following his extended battle with multiple myeloma. Pete was an Arthur B. Adams Society Founding Member, Price College Board of Advisors member, and recipient of both the OU Regents’ Alumni Award and the Price College Distinguished Alumni Award.

As many of you know, Pete was a proud OU/Price College alumnus who earned his BBA in Accounting in 1964. He loved the business school as much as anyone. In fact, Pete, along with fellow alums, Larry Houchin and Jackie Irwin, named their Tulsa wealth management firm in honor of Price College’s historic first building.

Pete was the founder, chairman and CEO of Autumn Glory Partners, LLC. Previously, he was one of the founders of Adams Hall Asset Management, an asset management company with over $2 billion in AUM at the time of its sale. He was an owner and principal in Houchin, Adamson & Co., Inc., a registered broker-dealer formed in 1980. Pete had nearly 50 years of experience in the industry with a focus on preservation of capital for individuals, families, trusts and foundations. A former C.P.A., his experience included numerous private equity financings with tax efficient structuring. He served as chairman of the Finance Committee on the Board of Trustees of the Tulsa Community Foundation and the advisory board of the Price College of Business. A recipient of the 1995 OU Board of Regents Leadership Award, Pete chaired several community organizations including Tulsa Zoo Friends, The Salvation Army’s William Booth Society, Holland Hall School, Tulsa County City Jail and others, and served on the board of several public companies.

For those of you who joined us for the Adams Society gala last fall, you will undoubtedly remember Pete’s heartfelt toast to the Society and the friendships it fosters and sustains. Posted here is an image of Pete and a transcription of his society toast. At every turn, Pete honored us by sharing his insight and passion for the power of investing in enduring institutions.  A lovely remembrance of Pete can be read here.

His memory and spirit will stay with us through the ages.
