Lieutenant Quincy Lamp is a native of Moville, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy and Seed Science and was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy.
Lieutenant Lamp reported onboard MAHAN, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia in December 2016 and met the ship on her C5F/C6F deployment in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Upon attachment, Lieutenant Lamp served as the First Lieutenant during through her C5F/C6F deployment and maintenance availability. As First Lieutenant, he served as the mission area lead for Seamanship, Aviation, and Search and Rescue while also serving as the Corrosion Control Program Manager, Aviation Facilities Coordinator, and Search and Rescue Officer.
In February 2019, Lieutenant Lamp detached from MAHAN and reported to Surface Warfare Officer's School to complete the Advanced Division Officer Course and Surface Navigator School.
In May 2019, Lieutenant Lamp assumed the position as Navigator and was instrumental in all aspects of the Navigation, Search and Rescue, Aviation, and Seamanship certifications as the Seamanship Training Team (STT) Coordinator and Assistant Operations Officer. As Navigator, Lieutenant Lamp was the Commanding Officer's direct representative charged with safe navigation of the ship. Under his tutelage, MAHAN safely exited her 21-month maintenance availability and sailed through Contractor and Type Commander (TYCOM) Sea Trials. Lieutenant Lamp's expert seamanship skills were put to the test through various exercises to include USS New Mexico Submarine Sea Trials, two DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER Carrier Strike Group Combined Exercsise, Exercise Burmese Chase, Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training, culminating in his selection as Naval Surface Force Atlantic's 2019 Junior Officer Award for excellence in Shiphandling. Lieutenant Lamp's acumen proved vital in USS MAHAN's 2021 C6F/C5F deployment to the Mediterranean, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Gulf.
In Augst 2021 LT Lamp reported to the University of Oklahoma NROTC unit and serves as an Assistant Professor of Naval Science. He currently teaches Naval Operations and Seamanship in the Fall and Navigation in the Spring.
Lieutenant Lamp's career sea time include nearly 100 Sea and Anchor evolutions, 84 of which were conducted in Norfolk, Virginia and over 250,000 nautical miles traveled.
His personal decorations include the Naval Achievement Medal (Gold star), the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, among other unit and personal awards.
He currently resides in Norman, OK.
