Ashby Bland Crowder 2005 SCMLA Book Award Life Membership Nominations: Especially deserving members of the SCMLA who have been active supporters of the Association may be granted Life memberships requiring no further payment of dues. are invited to submit nominations and self-nominations for the 2005
election
of Spanish and Russian Representatives, as well as Vice President.
Candidates for these positions should be ready to serve three-year terms
and to meet twice a year, in the spring (in February or March) and on the
first day of the Fall convention. Executive Committee members are required
to serve on various subcommittees. Expenses associated with the spring
meeting are paid for by the Association. Expenses for the fall meeting,
however, must be paid for by the member’s institution. Nominations/self-nominations
should be accompanied by a brief curriculum vitae (max. 4 pages). Send
by December 15, 2005, to Pamela A. Genova, Dept. of Modern Languages, Literatures,

OK 73019-2032. September 1 is Deadline for SCMLA Conference
Paper Prize Submissions: Four
prizes for the best 2006 SCMLA Conference papers in gender studies,
historical literary/cultural studies, Hispanic gender studies, and
Hispanic studies (must be in Spanish) will be awarded at the Fort Worth convention. Papers
may be nominated by session chairs or by the author.
Each prize carries an award of $250. Send four copies by September
1 (postmarked by August 28), to Grady C. Wray, Executive Director, SCMLA,
