M.A.P.S minutes for September 12, 2005

 

Meeting called to order at 7:11pm

 

I. Officer Reports

A. President- Shawn Chambers (pre-med senior)

1. Welcomed everybody

*Exec, introduced themselves

2. Introduced MAPS and SNMA. MAPS was started here at OU in 2000 by Jameca Price.

3. Spoke about the SNMA National Conference in Atlanta

4. Talked about fellowship activities where the organization would get to know one another.

5. Spoke about Committee Sign-Up

 

B. Vice President- Fernando Alonso (pre-med junior)

1. Spoke about the Mentoring and Shadowing Program.  He stated that in order to participate in the shadow program you MUST be active, so you should get involved.

 

C. Secretary- Ndi Mbride (pre-med sophomore)

1. Spoke about the application packets that included a MAPS Contact Sheet, T-Shirt Questionnaire, MAPS Membership, and Agenda.

2. Explained the point system and how it works and reiterated to get involved!

 

D. VP of Funding (Treasurer)- Marquita McDonald (pre-dental junior)

1. Spoke about the cost of being a member which is $5 and the form to be filled out along with the money.

2. Dues will go up to $7 after October 24, so it pays to pay you dues early.

3. Told MAPS about the SNMA membership dues which are $15 year round.

4. Spoke about the T-shirts which are probably going to be $10.

 

E. Historian- Angel Hinson (pre-dental junior)

1. Told organization about scrapbook which she passed around.

2. Told MAPS about the display case, which is located in Richards Hall.

 

II. Committee Reports

  1. Community Service- Erin Jackson (pre-med junior)
  1. Discussed the Heart Walk on September 24 and $1,000 that is due on September 22 and passed around sign-up sheet.
  2. Discussed AIDS Walk on September 25 which include holding up flyers and passed around sign-up sheet.
  3. Mentioned the High School Presentations sometime in October and wants to get students interested.

 

  1. Fundraising- MarQuita McDonald
  1. Mentioned Carwash on September 25 and students that are attending AIDS Walk might as well come to Carwash and passed around sign-up sheet.
  2. Discussed Classic 50s for next semester.
  3. Lloyd Noble Cleanup TBA.

 

  1. Publicity- Stacy Jean-Claude (pre-med sophomore)
  1. Mentioned chalking next Thursday and passed around sign up sheet.
  2. Discussed T-shirt prices and showed one design.

 

  1. Academic Support- Sarah Parker (pre-chiropractic medicine junior)
