   Observatory Project

   Put the observatory to much greater use. We want to plan student hosted observing nights for elementary and high school kids. Plus, we plan to invite guest speakers to do presentations and lectures on various space topics. More information will be available as this progresses.

6. Future Disscusion Topics
   Think about group researching of topics and short written reports (suitable for publication here) for the meeting discussions.
   • Value of educating the public about space
   • implications of NASA's goals for the next 10 years
   • Pro's and Con's of the commercialization of space
   • How to bring rocks and other samples back from other planetary bodies (i.e. Mars, Europa)

Meetting Minutes
Meeting Started: 5:30pm

1. Remember, if you are not on the SEDS e-mail list, come to a meeting and we will sign you up.
2. Space Week handouts have arrived
   • Go by the booth in the union and Sign the Commercial Space Act of 1997 petition.
   • Spaceport Florida Commercial Facility brocures.
   • National Space Society information.
   • Oklahoma Space Society forms.
3. We are now an *official* S.E.D.S. chapter!
   • Visit www.seds.org.
   • Get e-mail from the SEDS-L mailing list: Send a message to listserv@tamvm.tamu.edu,
     the message should only contain the words "SUBSCRIBE SEDS-L".
4. More t-shirt information
   • Added the slogan : "Space . . . It's really Big!"
   • Due to delays, we are waiting until after spring break to print the shirts
5. Movie Night
   • Set for Saturday, March 21, Cate Center aroung 8pm
   • renting Black Hole, The Right Stuff
   • Trying to get NASA news briefs from the Journalism dept.
6. Omniplex/Movie Night
   • this time it's just a party!
   • we would need to get +50 people to get the group discount
   • planning on visiting ALL day, just go to the Omniplex if you feel you might not make it to any preplanned group depature.
   • $5-$10 entry fee
   • planned to have "Movies after Dark" when we get back
