American Indian Achievement Celebration

New Sooner Graduates gaze in awe at the fireworks lighting up the sky at the 2005 Commencement ceremony.

Following careful consideration and due to the proposed guidelines for all University sponsored events to be held in the Fall semester, the American Indian AchievementCelebration for graduates that was previously postponed for the Fall 2020 semester will be cancelled. The Office of American Indian Programs & Services will host a larger Celebration in the Spring 2021 semester to recognize all 2020 and 2021 graduates in person.

Historically, the AI Achievement Celebration served as an essential event during the Spring Commencement festivities to honor and recognize our Native and Indigenous students. The Office of American Indian Programs & Services supports all efforts to protect our elders, parents, students, extended family members, community members and tribal leaders from further probabilities of transmitting COVID-19. Our hope is that as we each spend time practicing public health and safety protocols we will be prepared to welcome loved ones back to campus in the Spring of 2021 for a greater celebration for all of our graduates.

The Office of American Indian Programs & Services will be working with campus partners including the American Indian Alumni Society to ensure the best arrangements for disbursement of graduation stoles can be made during this time.

All Spring 2020 graduates, please follow this link to receive a stole from the alumni society if you have not already. Completing this form will also register you for notification on the AIAC to be held in Spring 2021.
