OU Together

In response to declining cases nationwide, as of May 12, 2023, the federal Public Health Emergency that was declared for COVID-19 will expire. While the University of Oklahoma will continue to monitor local and national COVID-19 data and trends, on May 12, the university will retire its COVID-19 Response Plans on each campus, including its Healthy Together App and the online COVID-19 Screening and Reporting Tool.

EMPLOYEES:

Employees are encouraged to refer to the following resources as needed:

For information about employee health insurance benefits related to COVID-19, please contact Human Resources at hrbenefits@ou.edu or hrbenefits@ouhsc.edu.

For information about returning to work after testing positive for COVID-19, please consider the CDC guidance on this topic.

COVID-19 vaccines are currently required for employees with patient-facing responsibilities at OU and OU Health. As this is an evolving area, individuals should look to the supervisors of their assigned areas for updates.

For information on masking requirements in patient care areas, please contact the appropriate clinic manager. Requirements vary by clinic, based on patient population and infection control standards.

Masking protocols for general facilities and classrooms remain unchanged. As before, people may choose to mask at any time or for any purpose.

Employees who are working or rotating at off-site locations are expected to follow the policies of the facilities where they are assigned.

For information regarding accommodations, please refer to Human Resources.

STUDENTS:

In response to declining cases nationwide, as of May 12, 2023, the federal Public Health Emergency that was declared for COVID-19 has expired. While the University of Oklahoma will continue to monitor local and national COVID-19 data and trends, the university has retired its COVID-19 Response Plans on each campus and the online COVID-19 Screening and Reporting Tool.

Students are encouraged to refer to the following resources as needed:

  • For information on required immunizations, an immunization reference guide for incoming students, and the declination process, HSC-program students should visit the OUHSC Required Immunizations website
  • Please note that effective May 12, 2023, only a single dose of a WHO approved COVID-19 vaccine is required for students enrolled in Health Sciences Center degree programs in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and remote sites. This change is in accordance with updated CDC "fully vaccinated" guidance. However, as this is an evolving area, students should watch for updated communications from their centralized OUHSC or OU-Tulsa Student Affairs offices, or your college student affairs office, for changes to this requirement.
    • Complio has updated their system to reflect this change. Any HSC-program student that had achieved compliance in Complio for the previous COVID requirement, via vaccination or declination, will remain compliant in the new rule requiring a single dose.
    • Any incoming students will only need to upload documentation of a single-dose to achieve compliance. There will be space to add all COVID-19 vaccines, but only one is required for compliance purposes.
  • For information about student health insurance benefits related to COVID-19, please visit Academic HealthPlans’ website at myahpcare.com or call (888) 924-7758.
  • For information about returning to school after testing positive for COVID-19, please consider the CDC guidance on this topic.
  • For information on masking requirements in patient care areas or clinical/practicum environments, please defer to instructions provided by faculty/staff in your department. Requirements may vary by site, based on patient population and infection control standards. Masking protocols for general facilities and classrooms remain unchanged; as before, people may choose to mask at any time or for any purpose.
  • Students who are participating in clinicals or practicums at off-site locations are expected to follow the policies of the facilities where they are assigned.

Please contact Tulsa Student Affairs team if you have any questions or concerns; stop by our office in the Founders Student Center, email TulsaSA@ou.edu, or call us at 918-660-3100.
