Internal Funding Opportunites

OU-Tulsa graduate students are eligible for several types of funding to support their studies.

Conference Presentation and Travel Grants

The Tulsa Graduate College provides grants to provide financial assistance to academically outstanding current students who are presenting research information that is leading towards a significant product of creative activity. Typically, these creative activities include dissertation or thesis research, articles for publication, or national performances/exhibitions. Grants of up to $500 are available for Masters level students one time per degree. Grants of up to $750 are available for doctoral students each academic year. Click here for the application.

Research Grants

The Tulsa Graduate College provides grants of up to $1000 to academically outstanding doctoral students who are in the early phases of a significant research project. Such activities include preparation of a doctoral dissertation or a performance project equivalent to a dissertation. The financial assistance is designed to defray expenses that are beyond what a student in the discipline might routinely be expected to incur in conducting research. Click here for the application.

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistants are students who work for the university in specific support roles while completing their graduate studies. Graduate assistants are eligible to receive tuition waivers (fees are not waived), stipends (salary) and basic health insurance. Graduate Assistant appointments are most commonly .50 FTE status which is equivalent to 20 hours/week. Individuals interested in a graduate assistantship should contact the Graduate Liaison or Director of their respective program.

External Funding Opportunites

Government-based Grants

Grants are available to graduate students through a number of federal agencies. For instance, the National Science Foundation provides direct and indirect funding for students at the graduate level. Financial Aid

Financial Aid Services offers financial resources to help students meet the educational costs of attending The University of Oklahoma. Their website provides a wealth of information about the many financial aid and scholarship opportunities available at The University of Oklahoma.

Students are encouraged to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid and to apply for scholarships and other resources by the appropriate deadlines.
