University College Assessment Center

Empowering student success through accurate placement into OU courses is the primary focus of the University College Assessment Center. Individual assessments are available for math, reading and English.

If a student has taken a college class via concurrent enrollment in high school, it may eliminate their need to assess. In order to determine the need to assess, the student must submit an official transcript from the college or university where the concurrent course was completed showing the final grade of the course to OU. Click here for more information about submitting documents to OU.

Assessment Guidelines

Based on a student's submitted academic information, The University of Oklahoma may require an ALEKS Mathematics Placement Assessment, Accuplacer Reading Placement Assessment, and/or English Placement Assessment to determine readiness for various courses.

If you took concurrent or other courses for college credit while in high school, your assessment requirements may be adjusted. Please submit the official transcript by requesting that the institution where you took the course send an official electronic transcript to oardocuments@ou.edu on your behalf or you can drop off a sealed official copy to Buchanan Hall (1000 Asp Ave), first floor, Admissions & Recruitment, Room 127. If you have specific questions about transferring credit to OU, please call 405-325-0514 or email te@ou.edu. Once your transcript has been received, revision of your assessment needs may be completed.

Math Placement Assessment

The ALEKS Placement Assessment helps determine appropriate math level(s) for incoming and current OU students. The ALEKS Placement Assessment covers material from basic math through pre-calculus and will provide an accurate description of a student’s math skills and a recommended course placement.

Note: Are you an incoming freshman at OU? You will receive your Math Offer after you schedule your New Sooner Orientation day. Click here for Math Offer FAQs. You can also login and see your Math Offer on your New Sooner Orientation registration confirmation page.
