How do I know if I need to take and English or Reading assessments?
There are no enrollment restrictions for students with an English or Reading ACT sub-score of 19 or higher and/or an SAT Evidence-Based Reading/Writing score of 480 or higher. All students who do not meet this threshold must take the Reading and/or English Placement Assessment(s).
How long does it take to complete the assessment?
English and Reading assessments are untimed, but they usually take about an hour to complete. The Math Placement Assessment (ALEKS) has a three-hour time limit, but students usually complete the assessment in approximately 90 minutes.
How many times am I allowed to take a placement exam?
English and Reading assessments are limited to three attempts. The Math Placement Assessment (ALEKS) is limited to three attempts. See guidelines to retake ALEKS.
Do I have to take the assessments on the OU campus?
Students will take assessments virtually via the downloaded desktop version of Zoom, and may make an appointment at the following link: https://iadvise.ou.edu/assess Please contact ucac@ou.edu for any questions regarding assessment.
