About Jonathan:

Jonathan came to OU as a student in 2007 and started his higher education career at OU in 2013. Before he joined the Center for Student Advancement office, he served as an Academic Life Coach for 8 years where he worked with first-year students one-to-one and helped them transition from high school into college.

Some of his favorite things include: spending time with his family, woodworking, music, video games, anything related to The Legend of Zelda, sports, spending time outdoors, and being active.

What is your favorite OU tradition?

My favorite tradition is Commencement. I have worked behind the scenes at Commencement multiple times, and I love seeing how the entire university comes together to celebrate our students who are graduating. It never gets old seeing the football stadium fill up with proud family and friends showing support to their student for accomplishing such an incredible goal. The firework show at the end is the icing on the cake.

What do you like most about working with new students?

I love helping students make the transition from high school into college, supporting and encouraging them, and helping them make OU feel like their second home away from home.

What is your favorite place on campus?

The second-floor bay window of Holmberg Hall. When I first met my wife, we both had classes in Holmberg. In the 10-minute gap of time before our next classes, we would meet up briefly to spend time together in that bay window. After a couple of years of dating, I proposed to her there, and thankfully, she said yes.
