OU Student Veterans Association (SVA)

OU Student Veterans Association logo

Student Veterans of America, our national affiliation, is a 501(c)(3) coalition of student veterans groups on college campuses across the globe. These member chapters are the "boots on the ground” that help veterans reintegrate into campus life and succeed academically. Each chapter must be an officially recognized student group by their university or college and provide a peer-to-peer network for veterans who are attending the school. Additionally, chapters often coordinate campus activities, provide pre-professional networking, and generally provide a touchstone for student veterans in higher education.

OU Industry Partner

Chevron has roots in the early California oil industry and traces its earliest history back to the Pacific Coast Oil Company. After early success in all aspects of the oil industry—from exploration and production to refining and final marketing—the company expanded into other basins in California, across the United States and abroad.

We explore, produce and transport crude oil and natural gas; refine, market and distribute fuels and other energy products; manufacture and sell petrochemical products; generate power; and develop future energy resources, including biofuels and geothermal energy.

Our mission is to be the energy company most admired for its people, partnerships, and performance.

How Chevron contributes to the student veterans at OU:

  • Sponsors two scholarships for veterans in engineering
  • Provides monetary sponsorship to the OU chapter of the SVA
  • Conducts student workshops on resume development and interviewing with Chevron veterans who have transitioned from military service to the private sector
  • Participates in annual career fair and job interviewing visits to the OU campus

Our vision is to help OU veterans understand and communicate how their military experience qualifies them for technical positions needed in industry today.

Friday we wear red. Red Fridays have become part of military culture, all branches. In case you didn’t know, red is for, Remember Everyone Deployed
