OU Staff Week Includes Award Ceremony and Daily Activities

OU's Norman campus Staff Week will feature a series of events and activities including a picnic and awards ceremony.

The University of Oklahoma Norman campus Staff Week will feature an ice cream social, art show, games and activities, as well as a picnic and the annual awards ceremony. Staff Week is April 21 through 25 and this year’s theme is “OU Staff: The Real Superheroes!” Donations of canned food items to benefit Norman’s Food for Friends may be brought to all of the activities except for the awards ceremony.

A listing of events follows:

Monday – Two sessions of bingo are planned, the first from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the T. Howard McCasland Field House, 151 W. Brooks St., and the second from 2 to 4 p.m. in Couch Restaurants, 309 W. Third St. Hot dogs and chips will be available to purchase for $1 during the morning session. Drinks and popcorn are complimentary at both sessions. The event is sponsored by the Organizational Staff Council.

Tuesday – The Staff Awards ceremony, honoring staff for achievement, length of service and retirement, is set for 11 a.m. in the Molly Shi Boren Ballroom in Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave. A light lunch will be provided following the awards ceremony, which is sponsored by the OU Staff Senate Awards Committee. The 21st Annual Staff Art Show, hosted by the Information Staff Association, will be held at the Stephenson Research and Technology Center, 101 David L. Boren Blvd. OU Research Campus. The Art Show reception is 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the National Weather Center Atrium.

Wednesday – The Health and Information Fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CCE Forum in the Thurman J. White Building, 1704 Asp Ave. Dr. James Pappas will provide fresh fruit and lunch can be purchased for $2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Prizes will be given out throughout the event.

Thursday – The Hourly Employees council will host a complimentary ice cream social from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Armory, 290 W. Brooks St. Lunch can also be purchased for $3. The craft and hobby fair, sponsored by the Staff Week Committee, is held in conjunction with the social.

Friday – The week of activities will end with a picnic hosted by the Administrative Staff Council from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Brooks Mall on the north side of the Armory. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the Armory. Announcement of the week’s grand prize winners will be announced during this event. Also, challenge yourself in a battle of wits and strength in the Staff Week Healthy Sooners Challenge at the Oklahoma Memorial Union from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two partners will compete in one part mental and one part (very limited) physical challenge.
