Roadtrip with friends and family down to Chickasha's Festival of Light. The Festival of Light has been recognized as one of the best light shows in the nation and you definitely don't want to miss out on this spectacular event. The festival is open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. every day until Dec. 31. Admission is free and you can get a horse-drawn carriage ride for only $6. Go share some hot cocoa as you look at over 3.5 million twinkling lights.

2. Apply for scholarships

Curl up with a mug of hot cocoa and scholarship applications. The deadline is fast approaching on Feb. 1. You do not want to miss out on the scholarship opportunities that OU has to offer. Make it a priority this weekend to fill out the application. It’s free, simple and an opportunity to receive free money.

3. 2nd Friday Art Walk

It’s the last 2nd Friday of 2015! (That’s a crazy thought.) There are tons of different businesses and organizations participating in the downtown festivities. Plus, there is a food truck park downtown. (What?) You read right.

4. Drama student-directed play: ‘Distracted’

Support your fellow OU student this weekend by going to a student-directed play. “Distracted,” directed by senior Tayler Daniels, is a good way to get your mind distracted from all the studying you will be doing. You need a break sometimes. Tickets are $5 at the door. See the play at 8 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday at Gilson Theatre in Old Science Hall.

5. Santa’s Adventure

Come join Santa’s Adventure this weekend from noon to 6 p.m. Help Santa drop gifts into his sleigh as you ride a 200-foot zip line or claim your candy cane prize on the 30-foot candy cane climb. Head out to the Land Run Monument in Lower Bricktown for all the fun. Passes can be purchased at the monument.

Have an event you’d like promoted in #SoonerWknd? Upload it to the OU Campus Calendar here and it could be featured in an upcoming events roundup. Have questions about the calendar or events submissions? Reach out to Morgan Day at morgan.day@ou.edu.
