Sooner Weekend: First Friday Gallery Walk, Free Flicks & More

#SoonerWknd: First Friday Gallery Walk, Free Flicks & More

From gallery gawking to free flicks in Meacham Auditorium, we’ve got what you need to plan the perfect weekend.

Free Movie: ‘Dear White People’

Rotten Tomatoes describes this Justin Simien-directed film as a “sly, provocative satire of race relations in the age of Obama.” You can see it for free in Meacham Auditorium at 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and midnight Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. As always, we’ve got OU’s Union Programming Board to thank for the free flicks.

First Friday Gallery Walk

Head to the Paseo Arts District in Oklahoma City for First Friday Gallery Walk and see more than 60 participating artists in more than 20 galleries. The event is held from 6-10 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. After you’ve pored over artwork, pop into Sauced or Picasso Cafe, because, really, who wants to drive back to Norman on an empty stomach?

Sooner wrestling²

Watch as our Sooner wrestlers take down two rounds of Cowboys (Wyoming, then Oklahoma State University). Friday’s match takes place at 3 p.m., and Sunday’s match against OSU is at 2 p.m. Both battles go down in the McCasland Field House.

OU Women’s basketball

Another helping of sports? Don’t mind if we do! Catch the OU women’s basketball team as they take on Kansas State at 2 p.m. at home Saturday. Find all the details on

University Theatre presents ‘Carmen’ in Concert

University Theatre and School of Music present "Carmen" in concert at 8 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Sharp Concert Hall in Catlett Music Center. Get your tickets here.
