OU Board of Regents to Meet in Norman

The approval of a new certificate program as well as the naming of the Building Information Modeling and Visualization Laboratory are among topics to be discussed by the OU Board of Regents.

NORMAN – The approval of a new certificate program in the College of Public Health at the OU Health Sciences Center as well as the naming of the Building Information Modeling and Visualization Laboratory in the College of Architecture are among topics to be discussed by the OU Board of Regents at its regular meeting on Thursday, May 11, in Norman.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in the Dodson Lounge, Room 1050 of Michael F. Price Hall with items submitted by Rogers State University to be considered first, followed by those submitted by Cameron University and then those submitted by OU.

The board will consider a recommendation from the president to approve the new Certificate in Healthcare Administration in the College of Public Health. The goal is to provide candidates for the Master of Business Administration degree in the Price College of Business with access to existing course offerings in the College of Public Health. This would differentiate graduates by providing an added dimension to their knowledge base. If approved, the certificate will consist of four courses for a total of 12 credit hours.

The OU Board also will consider a recommendation to name the College of Architecture’s Building Information Modeling and Visualization Laboratory in recognition of Kenneth Robson, who served as a faculty member in the College of Architecture for more than 20 years. Robson also served as director of the college’s Haskell and Irene Lemon Construction Science Division. Under his leadership, the division established the largest endowment in the college’s history and earned a national reputation, in part due to his commitment to maintain a close relationship with the construction industry.

The next regular meeting of the OU Board of Regents is currently scheduled for June 19, 20 and 21 in Oklahoma City.
