Returning to In-Person Work on the Norman Campus

Returning to In-Person Work on the Norman Campus

The past year presented circumstances no one could predict. With your help, the university has continued to fulfill its purpose despite significant obstacles. To each of you, we are grateful for your patience, flexibility, innovation, and willingness to work through many challenges during this unprecedented time.

At the heart of our university is the energy of a lively campus bustling with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. As we prepare to welcome our students back to campus for a fully in-person learning experience this fall, it is important that our faculty and staff are also on-site and in-person to be part of the community that nurtures and supports them. It’s not the same without you here. To that end, the university’s COVID remote working guidelines are being phased out and the return to on-campus working for faculty and staff is underway.  All employees are expected to return to working their full schedule on-campus by August 2, 2021.

Although all employees are expected to return to their pre-pandemic, on-campus schedules, the university is implementing an updated version of its pre-pandemic telecommuting plan, now known as the Remote Work Plan. Permission to work remotely will be granted on a limited basis at the discretion of supervisors, and only with the approval of deans and vice presidents.

Managers are expected to work within their departments to establish a return-to-campus plan that ensures all other employees will be working their full schedule in-person by August 2, 2021.

Please keep in mind circumstances remain fluid and the university will continue to monitor the public health situation, adapting as appropriate.

Questions?

Employees who may qualify for accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act or have a medical reason to work remotely may contact the Norman Human Resources Leave Administrator: Vanessa Llach: VanessaLlach@ou.edu.

Also, please note that any faculty and staff who had existing Telecommuting Agreements on file PRIOR to the onset of the pandemic will need to complete a new Remote Work Plan and receive requisite approvals on the date their existing Telecommuting Agreement expires.
