Research Advisory committee members, teachers and adult service providers, several of whom represent or work with culturally and linguistically diverse groups, socially validated the scope and sequence of the Student-Directed Transition Planning (SDTP) lessons. A multi-study research project is now underway to determine the effectiveness of the SDTP lessons. The first study will determine the knowledge gained by students using the SDTP lessons, compared to a group of students who did not use the lessons. The second study will examine how students who use the SDTP lessons discuss transition in their IEP meetings compared to students who did not use the SDTP lessons. We anticipate that students who use the SDTP lessons will have increased knowledge and will discuss transition more in their IEP meetings than students who do not. Results from these studies will be posted at this web site as they become available.
