Hi,
You don’t know me yet, but you’re one decision away from joining me in the OU family.
Before I get to that though, first a little about me. I am Chris Fusselman. I grew up in Warr Acres (Northwest OKC) where I attended Putnam City High School (“The Original”). I joined the OU family and majored in business management and marketing. I graduated from OU in 2004 and became the first college graduate from my family. In 2005, Tyler Media gave me the opportunity to work in media business, and now I am the vice president of sales.
Almost 20 years ago, I was in your shoes. OU mailed me an acceptance letter, and I was really excited to be accepted, but I had uncertainty and questions. Is OU too close to home? Should I stay closer to home? Would it cost too much? Would it help me find a job? In that moment, all I knew that I was determined to go to college, I just had to make a decision on where.
Looking back, making the decision to join the OU family turned into one of the best decision of my life on so many levels.
At OU,
• I learned to how to prioritize my time, critically think, and get more involved in the community.
• I learned about culture. I was immersed in a diverse new culture, with people from across the U.S. and across the world. • I learned how to lead. I had the opportunity to lead the marketing department for the IBC program, which was a startup student-ran business.
• I learned how to speak and present. There were so many opportunities to work on your presentations and public speaking skills.
• I learned how to cheer. I became friends with many of the student-athletes and supported them in all the sports. Today, it is rare that I miss a football game.
• I learned about friendship. I made lifelong friends at OU. Some were from the residence halls, some were classmates, and some were friends of friends. When we get together and look back on our college days, we can’t help but talk about it with smiles from ear to ear.
Simply put, my life would have developed far differently had OU not been a part of it. I love the university, and I think you will too. Come be a part of the OU family.
