Sunny Andrews

Hello!

My name is Sunny Andrews, and I am writing to you today to help you make one of the best decisions of your life – choosing to attend the University of Oklahoma.

Before I get to that, just a bit about me. I am a proud Okie, born and bred in a small town in southwestern Oklahoma. My husband and I planted our roots near Norman after I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in architecture in 2005. After working for about 10 years and receiving my license to practice architecture, I decided that I wanted to develop my career and education even further. Of course, I had to look no further than OU to pursue my MBA. During my time as a grad student and full-time employee, my husband and I managed to have two little girls.

I remember my senior year of high school and how nerve-racking the whole process of applying and deciding on where to go to college was. I am so thankful that I chose with not only my mind, but my heart as well. I had a great experience at OU and have so many fond memories (and even more friends!) to attribute to my time there.

When I think back, there are pivotal things I know I would not have experienced had I not chosen OU. Things that have helped shape not only my career but also who I am as a person. Just to mention a few:

1. I learned to write, speak, and solve problems, which provided me confidence and allowed me to excel quickly at my first job out of school and eventually led me to grad school.

2. I learned teamwork and to be a leader. Working in teams in the classroom is quite common, which prepared me for the real world. I still work in teams today. I also was given the opportunity to lead discussions and team projects, again something I have to do every day.

3. I learned how to appreciate all cultures even more from experiencing them first hand by traveling abroad to study in Rome and backpacking across Europe with classmates. This was possible through the travel scholarship programs designed by OU.

4. I learned the value of friendship. I made lifelong friends at OU, most of whom were classmates that I spent a lot of days (and sometimes nights) with in the College of Architecture designing our projects.

If OU had not been a part of my life, I think my life would have developed much differently. I am so thankful for my time there. I love the university and believe you will too. Come join the OU family!
