Stockroom

Stockroom

The Chemistry Stockroom may be found in Room 1600 of the Stephenson Life Sciences Research Center, 101 Stephenson Parkway. We provide all university research groups and administrative staff with immediate access to a wide range of laboratory consumables, chemicals and office supplies. We also serve as the recipient of courier packages (FEDEX, UPS, ect) for the department, and as an agent for departmental FED EX/UPS shipments.

We coordinate hazardous waste pickup and surplus equipment pickup for the department. Special purchases for all departmental units can also be coordinated through us.

We are very excited by the opportunity to serve the Chemistry Department, and the University at large from this beautiful new state of the art facility. Please feel free to come by and acquaint yourself with the products and services which we provide.

We are accepting empty and rinsed 4L bottles and 20L cans that previously contained non-chlorinated compounds for reuse and recycling.

Equipment validation is done annually.  All equipment over $5,000 is or should be tagged by OU Property Control shortly after arrival. This equipment or any older equipment tagged previously, must be accounted for each year. The link below outlines the full equipment validation procedures the department has previously used.

Instructions for Annual Equipment Validation (doc)

Surplus equipment is equipment that is no longer needed or is no longer functioning.  These items are to be processed through OU Property Control via the correct disposal method.  The stockroom currently oversees the surplus of property from individual groups for the department.

If you are interested in listing and disposing of any surplus equipment, please email a list to the Chemistry Stockroom (ouchemistrystockroom@ou.edu) . An Excel spread sheet works great.  Please include OU tag numbers, if any, description, model number, serial number, location and condition of each item.  The Chemistry Stockroom personnel will contact you to arrange for pick up or inspection.

Please understand that surplus items are University property and are to be used for University business, not for personal use!

All of these items are being offered to all Chemistry personnel as well as other departments across campus. If you are from another department and are interested in an item, you may request to inspect and reserve these items but these items will not be available for pick up until after the deadline. Please understand, Chemistry Department requests will have priority over other departments’ requests.

Please feel free to contact the Chemistry Stockroom if you need any additional information concerning these instructions.
