OU Math Self Assessment

To determine how ready you are for math at OU, take this self-assessment test. Use only a pencil and nothing else to be sure to get an accurate idea of your math readiness.

Each question on the self-assessment test contains topics needed to succeed in every OU math course, except MATH 1005. If you miss any problem on this self-assessment test, you need to review the material covered in that problem.

First, take an initial self-assessment.

When you finish the self-assessment test, you will find a link to a table. In the table, you will be given the answers to each problem. Also, in the table, there is a video supplied for you to review the primary concept address in the problem.

After at least one day of reviewing, you can attempt a new version of the self-assessment. This version will cover the same concepts with different questions.

If you need to study more after the second test, here are additional practice problems to work. Feel free to come to the Math Center to get help with these extra problems or any other studying you need to get ready for math at OU.

MAKE YOUR MATH CENTER VISIT A SUCCESSFUL ONE

  • Have questions ready.
  • Be proactive asking questions.
  • The tutoring session is about building on your understanding and is not a place to get answers to any specific problem.
  • Do not expect the tutors to develop a lecture over the material.
  • Get acquainted with the consultants.  Find one or more consultants that you work well with.
  • Talk and work with other students in the Math Center that have similar questions.
  • Be consistent throughout the semester visiting the Math Center.
  • Don't wait until exam weeks to come in to the Math Center. There will be
more opportunities for individual attention in the non-exam weeks.
  • Check the Math Center schedule for special review sessions that may be available for your course.
