Personal Statement

As a Freshman at the University of Oklahoma in Norman currently attaining a Biochemistry and Chemistry Degree for a future Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science, my aspirations for my future are immense. However, one of the major factors that has continuously contributed to these goals is one simple thing, family. In the past, the major roles of my parents, my sister, and my tribe, have consistently been apparent within the person I have been raised to be. With this, my continued effort has always lied within creating a renowned positive effect for my brothers and sisters in impoverished reservations. To achieve this with the inclusion of my background within the physical sciences, I strive to make a continued Fellowship program for Native Students who aspire to continue a path within research-based science. While achievable, the effort must remain consistent which is also why my dedication and the importance of education are two qualities that I have focused on greatly. Therefore, with my future within the University of Oklahoma, I aspire to make continued accomplishments and breakthroughs that divert the path of Native and Indigenous students in hopes that this noticeable change may come sooner rather than later.
